Affirmations, to me, have been like my daily happy pill. I love starting each morning with a positive thought that sets a good intention and tone for the day.
Here’s my affirmation from this morning:
So instead of thinking I “should” be adding this page to my blog, I’m grateful that I *get* to do this because it means I’m fortunate to have my laptop that allows me to do this and the dedicated time to sit down and write, which also means my baby boy is happily napping in his crib. And while we’re at it, I’m thankful for the fingers that allow me to type, my eyesight that allows me to see, my iphone that allows me to quickly take pictures and upload it to my webpage, etc, etc, etc!! See how awesome this is?! 🙂 You start walking down this path of gratitude and abundance in your mind and you realize how wonderful life is.
So what is an affirmation?
It’s a statement you repeat (out loud or in your head) declaring something to be true. I think negative self-banter is a natural human condition and it takes intentional work to keep it focused on the positive.
There are thousands of resources online that will give you various types of affirmations, or you can make your own and write an affirmation on a post-it and carry it with you all day. Or, if you would like a deck of affirmations that you can draw from each day, try one of mine that I created. You can click on each image below to take you to the Amazon order page.
Whatever your preferred method is, give affirmations a try and see how much your life can change when your mind is focused on the positive.
